Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny, sleepy town. The West Island has a lot of communities. People who have never been aware of it frequently confuse it with a separate, west-facing island. Amanda Brugel grew up on the West Island, and it is frequently called her birthplace. It is true that she resided there for a very short period of time. Brugel lived in Courtice close to Oshawa Ontario. Early ambitions were to become an expert dancer. However, a growth increase caused her to surpass all of the dance partners she had. The Toronto Star article revealed she's six feet tall, with heels. After I outgrew the male dancers, I decided to quit. Numerous former dancers choose to become actors. In Brugel's case, it was the encouragement from her drama teacher at her high school which pushed her to take the step she required. It was the teacher who recommended she go after a role in the school's annual production. She tried out and was eventually cast as the lead of Anne of Green Gables. The Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned the Bachelors in Fine Arts in the year 2000. Since then, she's appeared in over 60 productions both smaller and large. Most notable was the time she was cast as Rita in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian part of the cast during Season 1 of the series, and only appeared on occasion.
